5. Darling Rachael

Track 5 | Footprint | Bruce Stephen Foster

See her walking from the station through the rain

Young and tempting, but her face has shown the strain

The kids are waiting for thier mother to arrive from working late

And thier arms are open wide for Darling Rachael

Are you sleeping well tonight ?

Darling Rachael, is your life a bit uptight ?

A lonely life is more exciting when you share it with a friend

But a friend is not enough for Darling Rachael

Who’s that knocking ?

Someone standing at the door

Children watching, but they’ve seen his face before

And so a lover unaware becomes thier father for the night

But they’re orphans in the morning,

Darling Rachael, are you sleeping well tonight ?

Darling Rachael, is your life a bit uptight ?

A lonely life is more exciting when you share it with a friend

But a friend is not enough for darling Rachael

Not much to say since he broke your heart but “He’s gone … ”

If every day brings a brand new start, then carry on….

And so a lover unaware becomes thier father for the night

But they’re orphans in the morning

Darling Rachael, are you sleeping well tonight ?

Darling Rachael, is your life a bit uptight ?

And you can bet you’ll save the kids from making all the same mistakes

And if anyone should know, it’s Darling Rachael, Darling Rachael,

Pretty Rachael
